How to install and wire in our DIY kits ?

If your a visual learner you will get a better understanding of installation of these LEDs from a number of videos on my TikTok channel, however for a brief written explanation, this is the process of installing our DIY kits into your own cars !

The opening process on each light is different so again refer to our video channells to see if we have a guide on opening your tails!

Introduction: This guide will walk you through the process of installing 5mm addressable LEDs into a custom acrylic panel. We'll cover the necessary materials, wiring connections, and configuration with a Blueghozt LED controller. Let's get started!

Materials Required:

5mm addressable LEDs (included in all DIY kits )

Custom acrylic panel ( included in DIY kits )

Blueghozt LED controller ( included in DIY kits )

5V step-down power supply ( included in DIY kits )

Soldering iron and solder

Wire cutters/strippers

Electrical tape

Heat shrink tubing (optional)

Screwdriver (if required for mounting)

Step-by-Step Guide:

Prepare the Acrylic Panel:

Ensure the acrylic panel is clean and free from any dust or debris.

remove the plastic from the backside of the acrlylic paneel in preperation for soldering

Understand the LED Pins:

The 5mm addressable LED has four pins.

The two middle pins are ground (GND) and power (VCC).

The longest pin is the positive (+) terminal, and the shortest pin is the ground (-) terminal.

The two outer pins are for data input (DI) and data output (DO).

The positive side of the pin represents the output ( DO ) , while the negative side represents the input (DI ). The output side on our pins also includes a flat surface for easy identification of both DI and DO connections.

Mount the Components:

Place the addressable LEDs into the prepared holes or slots on the acrylic panel, begin with just one or two so you can test your wiring and understanding is correct.

keep the blueghozt handy so you can continually test you r board as you are putting it together, but ensure you dont work on the board with the power running or you risk shorting out the leds!

Connect the LEDs:

Begin by soldering wires to the four LED pins. Use different colors to distinguish the connections.

Begin by bending the positive, negative and DI pin outwards from the board, solder 3 pin JST or barrell connector onto the wires coming off the first led.

Connect this single LED and JST plug to the ghozt controller and ensure it is getting a signal power and ground, if it is it should light up when show modes are selected.

Once the first 5mm LED is lit up, connect the second led's input wire to the first led output. connect power and ground and continue in this sequence until your entire board is lit up.

Power Supply:

these LEDs require a 5v power supply, howver typically a car supplies 12v.

Ensure you have the supplied stepdown converter inline supplying the Blueghozt controller with 5v power only.

Connect the 5V step-down power supply to the VCC and GND connections on the Blueghozt controller.

Ensure the polarity is correct, with the positive terminal connected to VCC and negative terminal to GND.

Use electrical tape or heat shrink tubing to insulate the connections.

Configure the Blueghozt Controller:

Consult the user manual or instructions provided with the Blueghozt controller to set up the LED effects, colours, and patterns.

Connect any required control inputs or switches, following the manufacturer's instructions.

Test and Finalise:

Double-check all the connections and ensure there are no loose wires or exposed connections.

Power on the setup and verify that the LEDs illuminate and respond to the controller's

Commands.

Adjust the placement or wiring if needed.

Conclusion: By following these steps, you should have successfully installed and connected 5mm addressable LEDs into your custom acrylic panel. Enjoy the vibrant lighting effects and customize them further using the Blueghozt LED controller.
